Put me in, coach!

Although the cinderblock wall is not the most inspired background, this photo of Steve Avery captures it all: youth, hope, ebullience, confidence, optimism. The promise of baseball. In 1990, he was the youngest player in the major leagues.

Look at his senior season in 14 games he was 13 and 0 with one save. I remember entering his stats in Microleague baseball and created a team of #1 draft picks for that year and he was the most incredible player in that game. Too bad it wasn't the same in the majors.

Mike, Did he get injured? Or is reaching the Majors just a completely different dynamic? Oh Stevie, we hardly knew ye.
