Mets vs. Blake Street Big Boppers.

The crowd was on its feet for the last out of the game, the second photo down in this post. Despite a 4-1 loss to the Blake Streeters, we enjoyed every moment of the game at Coors Field yesterday. We got to see John Maine pitch in person (auto cards photos to be posted later); Lucy saw her fave David Wright; our older daughter loved watching catchers Yorvit Torrealba and Brian Schneider; we witnessed Aaron Cook pitch a complete-game four-hitter, and watched as Triple A call up Seth Smith hit an electrifying three-run homer in the fourth inning--the first home run of his major league career.

Now, when the team of your heart (the Metropolitans) is in the doldrums, you takes what you can get, and what we got was the Rockies (the grandparents' favorite team) playing a strong game on the eve of their ten-game road trip. We sat in the Club section along the first base line, and among other luxuries we had our own waitperson bring hot dogs and Cokes. The crowd was in a good mood. And in the fourth inning, Lucy met Dinger and got an autograph from, er, um...him? Are mascots all boys? Some are not in question, such as Mr. Met.

There aren't very many experiences that best a pleasant day at the ballpark.
