....this season may be the curveball, according to Matthew Cerrone. One of Mr. Maine's strengths has always been consistency, so if he could add that pitch and rely on it, well howdy do.
We found this image of the Platonic Ideal of John Maine Autographed Baseball Card on the interwebs:
As you may know, John Maine is a great Through The Mail baseball card signer. Unfortunately, when he signed two for us last year, he was not feeling quite so bold and zen linear and perfect:
and he was almost utterly defeated by the horrible-texture-for-signatures Turkey Red card, but that's our fault for expecting him to sign something similar to weather-worn stucco:
Good thing that a few months after getting these two items, we received from the generous trader Fielder's Choice a Goudey autograph of Mr. Maine:
that is highly legible. When we got a double of this, we were able to pay it forward to Stats on the Back, another card lovin' Mets fan. We hope he received it all safe and sound.
As Mr. Maine pursues Curveball Perfection, we may try again and pursue the Platonic Ideal of John Maine Autographed Baseball Card perfection. Why not? It's spring training. Anything is possible.
