A while ago, one of our favorite writers, the always reliable Mr. Night Owl, in a post called Variation Madness, described "the odd little variations that card companies have thrown at us [making] set collecting a never-ending series of checklists." He remarked that 2008 Heritage green and black back variations are a little too gimmicky. Well! We couldn't agree more! We are appalled at all this varicardnonsense! And of course we wanted one!
Along with several other wonderful cards (here's a tantalizing hint: FLEER), Mr. N.O. sent us Black Back Ichiro. Now we have firsthand knowledge. That's very important, you know.

I wonder if that is the black back Ichiro that I sent to Night Owl.
I don't think it is, Z, unless I got the two mixed up. After you sent your black-back Ichiro, I pulled another one. And it went right into the DC pile.
This is why I'm scared of these bigger sets. So many variations/parallels... I mean, A&G from any year might be a life's work.
