We like Chris Young because he seems like a truly nice guy. He personalized items to Lucy so he gets extra points. This 2009 Goudey is scary in the same way that all the 2009 Goudey baseball cards are scary: the players look like Ferengi. The utter lack of background or sense of action is quite something. But the "G" bit placement is terrific. By the way, the June 2007 event in which Mr. Young took a non-connecting swing at Derrek Lee doesn't change our minds about the nice guy status:
That rumble involved the tallest (6'10 Chris Young) and third-tallest (6'6 Derrek Lee) players in the ballpark that day. Mr. Lee took the first nonconnecting punch after Young's pitch buzzed too close to Lee's head in the fourth inning. The melee resulted in the ejection of three players and one coach.
That photo should have been a 2008 Allen & Ginter card in the series "Pugilists and other Pugnacious Princes of Play." Frustrating to see such a missed opportunity.
Thanks for the great batch of cards, Marie.

I could not agree more. It's an incredible photo. Moreover, it's brazenly atypical for a baseball fight. I mean, someone's throwing a punch?!?
Promoting the violence, Patricia? I am shocked!!!!!! I'm telling my mother.
Thanks. I will get started right away. :)
