Classic midair: we rate 1972 Topps Tito Fuentes.

Stats on the Back thought maybe we should rate the 1972 Topps Tito Fuentes In Action card, and upon close inspection, that is certainly the case.

While we're on the subject, take a look at Mark's Tito Fuentes want list, which only a true supercollector could compile. One of our favorite Stats Tito posts is this one about Tito's Hat.

On to the serious evaluation:

1972 Topps Tito Fuentes In Action

Air: 2.5 out of a possible 4 dings. Reasoning: right foot low; left foot high
Background: 3. The crowd, what there is of it, is strangely subdued
Off-centeredness: 3.5. True to 1972
Dinged-ness of corners: 2.0. This card verges upon, or at least vectors towards, sharp
Flower power: 3. The '72 Topps shooting stars look more like flowers on Tito's card
Final score: 14.0

I can't believe my Tito IA card is in too good condition to score higher than a 14. I like to think that the other player in the card has actually collapsed in homage to Tito while Tito inexplicably jumps over his admiring colleague. Maybe its just me. Thanks for rating my card for me. Your expertise is appreciated!

To this day, I carry this very card in my car (Used to be in my wallet). Something about an "In Action" card where a guy is getting wiped out on the front end of a double play - love it.
