Heartbreaking post of staggering genius.

Yes, I know you've seen variations on that joke a few times. But what to say about the baseball card blog Heartbreaking Cards of Staggering Genius? We had already wanted to do a post about that site because Matt F. is going on hiatus in order to take care of some of the pressing needs of life. We wanted to say how much we enjoy the tenor of his posts, the humor, the great graphics (and one of our favorite banners ever), the 1971 and 1972 Topps cards, the videos, you name it. Then in the mail comes a packet from Mattbreaking himself. So we'll talk about that instead. First up, Weathers and Mondesi:
Then, two cards for our '72 T collection!:
And a gentle suggestion from Matt F. that we should add Dmitri Young to our favorites. Now, perhaps he was joking, perhaps not, but we take seriously the remark because for whatever reason, Lucy just plain likes the Nationals. The last place bit doesn't faze her. Mr. Young may never wear a Nationals uniform again, but let's put it this way: he has an epic story.

Anyhow, we are lucky dudettes to have shared the baseball card blog world with Matt F. even for a short time. We hope he has a productive break and look forward to his return.

If you can haiku, please do in post number two.

Thanks so much for what you wrote. It means a lot to me.

I'm half joking about Mr. Young...he's not exactly the ball player you'd bring home to Momma...but I had an extra jersey card that needed a new home.
