We have a winner!

dayf the CJ actually seemed to use our useless clues to reach his conclusion that we are going for the 01/99 Pat Neshek rip card. He must have figured out that even though we never said we weren't idiots, that doesn't mean we can't act like idiots and buy the Pat Neshek card instead of like 20 blasters. He must have known that merciless common sense or wise rip card assessments, including his, won't deter happy little wild idiots.

But most of the horror felt by card buffs in regard to rip cards has to do with the word "rip," which is to say, destroy one card to get at another one. Bad idea. Thing is, we intend not to rip it. We like the #1-ness as well as the Neshek-ness. And besides, since dayf is probably right and Mr. Neshek may well corner the market on the other 98, so it's nice to have one. Untouched. PS That Lucy/light clue wasn't so bad after all, eh? Upon, as it were, reflection.

I think that I would leave that Neshek unripped as well no matter what number it was. It seems like there are a lot more bad contents than good contents of rip cards. I've watched too many videos of people ripping them and you can hear the disappointment in their voices as a regular mini card greets them.

Congrats to Dayf. I thought about the Lucy / Light / Rip Card Trick, but then thought, Moon Light Sonata. It had to be. Nope.

Nugaterf. I just like the word.

Do you remember the old Zenith "Dare to Tear" cards? I have a Derek Jeter that I tapped on the palm of my hand until I could feel that the card inside was clear at the bottom. Then I took a VERY sharp, brand new razor blade and carefully cut a slit in the back of the card at the top, only cutting through the back side, forming a pocket.I managed to pull the hidden card out with no problem.I believe it was a Griffey Jr. card but it's long gone now.I still have the Jeter though.

Just to give you a head's up, Pat Neshek himself is actually trying to get that exact same card. Do you want to be the one to snipe it from him, or will you let him have his own 01/99 rip card? Hmmmm? Food for thought! ;)
