Scouting baseball cards.

Do you have a sixth sense for picking baseball talent early on? Recently we asked, "what young player, unproven but promising, have you decided to collect?" Here were the responses:

Jason Heyward:

Johnny Cueto:

James Parr:

Ian Bladergroen:

Cody Ross:

Brian Cavazos-Galvez:

Jordan Pacheco (former UNM Lobo!):

Ike Davis (Mets 1B prospect):

J.P. Arencibia:

Brian Matusz:

Interesting! Thanks for the insights. (And yes, we've got our eye on Ike around here, too.) Is anyone collecting Pedro Alvarez?

Along these lines, eTopps will produce officially licensed Minor League Baseball cards this season;  think they started making some available today. According to the press release, "We will offer Minor Leaguers selectively throughout the baseball season and capture players as they make their pro debuts at the Minor League level."

I cannot wait for an Ike Davis card in a more traditional, non-minor league exclusive set.

I foresee Ike doing great things for my second favorite team.

BrooklynMet and WW, It looks as if Ike has been reassigned to AAA. Daniel Murphy will be the starting first baseman; this could be Murphy's last chance to impress.

Glad that Ike is with us and we look forward to seeing him on the roster.
