We're baaaaaaaack. Also: who is the face of your team? Also: free cards!

So! I picked this up on eBay for a song for our daughter Lucy, 10, because she now loves David Wright more than baseball or even the Mets. However, as she becomes more aware of how our world works, she said today, "I hope he doesn't quit the Mets" because they are doing poorly and behaving thuggishly.

There is a heartbreaking notion: what would we do if David Wright goes to another team, ever? It's almost as unthinkable as Derek Jeter leaving the Yankees. The players who are the "face of a team," such as Ichiro on the Mariners, upturn the entire baseball world if they flee. Don't flee, David! Who is the face of your favorite team?

By the way: shortly--this evening--we're going to open a pathetic little blaster of Allen & Ginter. When we do so, please feel free to email us if you need any of the cards, as we won't keep any except Metropolitans...and only certain Mets at that. Just include your address in the email and we'll mail it or them off to you tomorrow, Thursday! A way of saying "hi, we're back."

The D-Backs don't really have a Face of the Franchise right now. It used to be Brandon Webb, but he hasn't pitched in almost 2 seasons now. I think that they (meaning the Diamondbacks) want it to be Justin Upton, but I just don't see it yet.

I've thought about Wright leaving a few times myself. Usually my head starts to hurt so I stop. Hopefully he stays with the Mets for a super long time! Welcome back!!!

That is so cool that you guys are back! I missed reading this blog enormously. I thought you went the route of the great Mario and turned off the blog machine.

Always looking forward to reading more.

Hey Patricia and Lucy! Good to hear from you. I bought one of those little blasters and got a "salty sailor" card and sold it for $64. Good times. I would tell you that Parker says hello, but he only sits up and creeps and cries. Go Mets, Boo Francisco!

Glad to have you back! Did you get that penny I sent your way?

The face of the Cubs, Derrek Lee, was traded today. The face of the Royals, Zack Greinke, is someone I hope is traded because he deserves better than Kansas City can offer him now. So faces are complicated, that's for sure.

Thanks for offering the blaster; I look forward to seeing if you pull something neat.

Welcome back!!!

For a Cardinals fan, that's an easy question. I remain optimistic in thinking that Pujols won't leave and the Cardinals won't let him leave, no matter what the cost is.

The face of the White Sox is the manager, Ozzie Guillen. If a player has to be picked, I would say either Konerko or Buehrle. The face of the future for the Pale Hose? Gordon Beckham.

Great to see you posting again! :-)

There are a few people I would miss if they left the Yankees. However, I learned a few years back when Andy Pettitte went to Houston, while I would miss the guy (i still followed his career in Houston), the team's everyday play makes you move on.

Having said that, Andy knew he was wrong and came back to the only team that truly loved him. :)

Face of the Twins? I don't think anyone outside of Minnesota can even think of any other Twin than Joe Mauer.
